New Year's Greetings from Nova Scotia Power:
Most reporting Test Hamsters are now aware that www.dexterdyne.org was
down between Jan 1st and Jan 4th. Not bad considering it's the first extended flatline
in the four years, but I digress.
Currently everything is operational and again onine.
The flying squad at K-PC
Lteé on Agricola, the local pro-shop here in Halifax Nova Scotia
where people who earn a living with their gear do their business, were
able to rescue the drive data and issue a new 915 Intel System from stock
by 10pm New Year's Eve.
Try getting that kind of service at Staples or Future Shop next time
you really need your hardware to work. Special thanks go out to John,
Al and Ken-Porter for the late shift on the hardware bench.
Apparently, yet another rapid round of spikes and fades in area voltage
finally burned out our battery back up inverter.Which subsequently took
some important internals on the way-hey-hey over-clocked, TYAN 1854 P3 unit
- which had been the heart of Radio Free Dexterdyne these many years.
It's not unlike losing an old pal when I stop to think about it.
Anyway - big thanks again to the Radio Free Dexter Irregulars who
immediately let us know it was flat lined. I feel sure the good folks
at Nova Scotia Power would pass along their apologies as well - you know
- if they cared a tinkers damn about quality electricity anymore.
Happy New Years' kids.
